What is Ultrasound Imaging?

Ultrasound technology uses high frequency sound waves. The waves bounce off the tissue and return to the ultrasound machine at different frequencies, depending on the density of the tissue. Our ultrasound machine is a highly specialized computer that translates the returning sound waves into images for viewing.

What is the difference between 2D, 3D, and 4D Imaging?

2D ultrasounds are the traditional black & white ultrasounds. The pictures show the skeletal structure (outline) of the baby. You also see the baby moving with 2D technology. This is the type of ultrasound that was probably used for your diagnostic ultrasound. It is still the best technology for obtaining measurements and ensuring that the baby is developing as expected. 3D imaging shows the tissue (skin) of the baby. These are the images that look like pictures of your baby rather than pictures of your baby's skeleton. You can see the roundness of the baby's face, the shape of the nose and the contours of the lips. The color is computer generated to enhance the pictures and make them more appealing. 4D imaging is 3D imaging in live motion. The 4D video clips of your baby are similar to the 3D pictures - but moving!

When is the best time schedule my appointment?

To determine gender, 15 to 20 weeks is the best time to schedule an appointment. To see baby's face, 24 to 32 weeks is the best time to schedule. Before that, baby is still pretty skinny. After that, baby starts getting crowded. Right in the middle is the best time.

Am I guaranteed to get good pics of baby?

Typically, you will. We can't guarantee perfect pics due to location and position of baby, as well as Mom's body type. We do everything we can to give you great pics and a wonderful experience.

What type of training do you have?

Our imaging technicians have been specially trained to do prenatal ultrasound imaging. Both technicians have a degree in Sonography (ultrasound).  We use state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment specifically calibrated for O/B and fetal imaging.

When will I receive the pictures, CD, and DVD?

All your keepsake items will be ready for you to take home when you leave. The DVD is a video recording of your entire ultrasound session. We record the entire session so you don't miss anything your baby does and you can watch it again and again at home. You'll have the rights to the CD, so you can print images at home.

Will you be able to tell if the baby is a girl or boy?

Yes, and gender determination is included in all our packages. We prefer to check gender after the baby reaches 15 weeks. Gender determination cannot be guaranteed since we must rely on the cooperation of the baby and several other factors outside our control.

Do I need to have a full bladder?

No, a full bladder is not necessary. However, being well hydrated increases the transparency of the amniotic fluid which greatly effects the clarity of the images. If you want to maximize the likelihood of getting great pictures, drink plenty of water for the 2 or 3 days prior to your appointment.

How many people can come with me to watch the session?

We now have a larger scan room that can comfortably accommodate big families! We have seating available for 6-7 family members, besides Mom, with plenty of standing room available. Please feel free to invite the family to enjoy your special day!

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. Our sessions are available by appointment only. We occasionally have same day appointments but you will have to call us to check availability - you cannot book appointments from our online scheduler for any time during the next 24 hour period.

Do I need to bring a blank CD or DVD?

No, you do not need to bring anything. If you want your own music on the DVD please bring a CD of music to play during your ultrasound session otherwise we will provide music for you. Please let us know this before the ultrasound. The music we play during your scan is the music that will be on the DVD.

Do you offer a military discount?

Yes. To thank you for your service, we are happy to offer a military discount. We offer your choice of 10% off your scan, an additional heartbeat animal, or free live video streaming to another location.
